North American Retrievers Print E-mail

North American Retrievers is the name being used by many doodle breeders for a cross between a goldendoodle and a labradoodle. The name double doodles is also commonly used as well. This new cross of doodles has been produced by many breeders and the results have been wonderful. These puppies are an exciting new addition to the doodle world and are perfect for those who are not sure if they want a goldendoodle or labradoodle.

Many North American Retrievers are non-shedding and have that sought after soft fleece coat. This is most likely due to the difference in the labradoodle's often coarser coat and goldendoodle's softer coat being combined. North American retrievers are also very smart dogs (the labrador, golden and poodle minds combined). This combination makes great therapy dogs which is a goal in our program. Another plus of North American Retrievers is the added hybrid vigor by crossing 3 different breeds for a larger gene pool.

We are excited to join the group of breeders that are producing this promising new cross of doodles. Our first litter of NARs were born in April of 2009. These were amazing puppies and we've had rave reviews from all of their owners. While our main focus will be goldendoodles as usual we will plan a litter or two of North American Retrievers from time to time. We expect these litters to be much like the goldendoodles we've produced here at Corinth Doodles.

Here are some photos of North American Retrievers produced from our last litter with Joy.
